Oh cool, time for another installment of My Pumpkin Challenge's August "All Goes!" This time, I knew I wanted use more of the latest kit - "Party Pennants." The size of the banner pieces really made me think of a gift bag - how to dress it up?? So I started by rooting through my accessory stash to see what I had in the coordinating colors, and this is where I ended up! I also got a chance to break out the awesome Simply Created Build A Banner kit - even if you never make a banner (and I don't know why you wouldn't!) the stencils alone are worth their weight in gold! I used one of them to place the polka dots on my gift bag - worked like a charm! I'll be saving this for hubby's birthday in October - yay! July Paper Pumpkin - Party Pennants; plus, Kraft gift bag (eBay by the case!); Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango & Island Indigo inks; Apothecary Accents Framelits; Essentials Piercing Template; Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon; Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin; Simply Created Build A Banner kit. Also, for this week's Paper Craft Crew #54, I knew I wanted to pull out my new "Thanksgiving" sets, and maybe make something autumnal out of them. This is the result. I have to say, I find Sahara Sand to be a challenging color to work with! I decided that I thought it was best set off with white, but that sort of clashed with my Fall theme, so, well, I feel like I've been tinkering long enough, and it's time to stop! I think it should be like emissions, lol. You know, after you've spent enough $$ on a bad test, you get to stop where you are? After you spend enough time on a card, you have to be courageous enough to quit while you're ahead! Sahara Sand & Always Artichoke get to be one of my new fave color combos, though! Make sure to stop by Paper Craft Crew and play along - can't wait to see what YOU can do! Truly Grateful & Magnificent Maple stamp sets; Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke & Whisper White CS; Sweater Weather DSP; Early Espresso, Crushed Curry, Always Artichoke; Cajun Craze & Soft Suede inks; Deco Labels & Bitty Banners framelits; Woodgrain embossing Folder; Regals Candy Dots.

I loved this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #97 - so much room fro hanging some Christmas ornaments! Yay! I strongly suspect that this will be one of the cards we make in this month's Christmas in August class on August 22 - a perfect combination of new and old holiday catalogs. Gee, what a perfect lead-in to this reminder: Woo hoo! The 2013 Holiday Catalog is now LIVE! You can view it online here! Let me know if you're ready to place an order, lol, made sure I got mine in at 6 am this morning! Ornament Keepsakes & Christmas Messages stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Whisper White & Early Espresso CS; Season of Style DSP; Cherry Cobbler, Island Indigo, Old Olive & Early Espresso inks; Linen Thread; Holiday Ornaments framelits; Silver & Red Glimmer Paper. I also couldn't resist sharing this totally cute picture that Jessica over at My Pumpkin Challenge put together for the announcement of our next challenge over there - Anything Goes! This was from the "well-dressed" dessert we had at Open House last week, lol. Even though I went pretty much straight up from the kit, for the "All Goes" challenge you can make ANYTHING at all - 3-D, scrap pages, cards, boxes, decor - you name it! AND, you can use ANY Paper Pumpkin kit, too, so bring out those leftover bits and bobs! Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! I wanted to post a couple pics from tonight's 2013 Convention Open House - I do believe fun was had by one and all! This was a chance for everyone to see all the awesome swaps I brought back (over 200!!), the wonderful Make & Take projects that Stampin' Up! had for us, as well as my class samples from the awesome Convention Connection by Janet Baker and Susan Adams that my upline recommended. What clever, creative and DOABLE projects - can't wait to translate some of these to our own classes! We also enjoyed an extremely well-dressed dessert by my beloved Our Best Bites, of course, Blueberry-Lemon-Ricotta-Cheesecake Bars - yum yum! Never made anything quite like it - and It rocked! These cute little party swags are from the latest Paper Pumpkin - the Party Pennants kit! Love It! Other activities we enjoyed were digging through convention goody bags for everyone - I loved bringing home the bounty to share with all of us - making one Make-n-Take of our own - my "Six-Sided Swap" card - and getting a crack at my freshly stocked Retired/For Sale box. I almost forgot our good long browse through the new Holiday Mini, too! And the slide shows of the 400 pictures I took! Yikes! So nice to take it easy and just enjoy each others' company - back to the grind next month, though, lol!
One of the (many?) weird things that I think non-desert dwellers have a hard time understanding is how excited we get around here in Arizona when it rains. Or even when it gets cloudy, lol. I have been on several vacations when it has been pretty drizzly the whole time, and my hosts have been so sad for me - while I grin like a loon and assure them that rain is such a novelty to me - I love it, and can we please go outside?? Last night we even watched Shakespeare in the rain at Utah Shakes on our way back from Salt Lake City! So, for today's blessedly cloudy day, I felt like it was a perfect time to do another Pumpkin Color Challenge - let's call it Rhapsody in Blue Pumpkin, shall we? Who knows, maybe monsoon is starting around here, too - you never know! June 2013 Paper Pumpkin - Hello To You; plus, Soft Sky CS; Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Marina Mist & Night of Navy inks; Brights, Regals & Subtles Candy Dots; 1 3/8" Square Punch; Chevron embossing folder (on envelope flap.) Time for another edition of My Pumpkin Challenge, with a pop of color! I can't seem to stay away from adding Pear Pizzazz to this kit - it just seems like such a natural addition! This time, I also threw in some Pool Party, with a touch of Smoky Slate... I also pulled in a stamp from an earlier kit, too - Pumpkins like to play together! May sure to jump out to My Pumpkin Challenge for more awesome inspiration! June 2013 Paper Pumpkin - Hello to You; plus, Pear Pizzazz, Smoky Slate & Pool Party CS; Pear Pizzazz & Smoky Slate inks; March 2013 Paper Pumpkin Stamp - Hey There; Corner Rounder Punch. OK, I decided it was time for another Pumpkin Color Challenge, and of course, I had to cheat a little - is Silver Sparkle a color, exactly? I don't know, but the Pumpkin felt like blinging it up today! I also decided to give the cute little window punch-outs on the card base a try - it really adds some great dimension, though I guess there's maybe not much room for writing a love note inside the card - oops! Be sure to stop by My Pumpkin Challenge for more great Pumpkin inspiration! June 2013 Paper Pumpkin - "Hello To You"; plus, Silver Glimmer Specialty DSP; Silver embossing powder; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; Small Heart punch. EEE - isn't the June Paper Pumpkin - "Hello To You" - the cutest? We are really going for the honeycomb/hexagon shape these days at SU!, lol... That said, I am so excited to tell you that I was invited to join the My Pumpkin Challenge inspiration team - woot! I'll do my best to live (and create) up to the excellent company that puts me in! Woot again! Anyway, this month's Pumpkin Challenge is kind of a color one - introduce new colors to your Pumpkin creations. Now that's my kinda challenge! For my first card, I decided that it lacked a little something in the spectrum, so I added TWO colors - Pear Pizzazz and Perfect Plum. What a fruit that would make: Pumpkin-Pear-Plum, sounds like a fine wine! Make sure to hop out to My Pumpkin Challenge for more awesome inspiration on your My Paper Pumpkin kits! Paper Pumpkin "Hello To You" kit; plus Pear Pizzazz & Perfect Plum inks; Pear Pizzazz Stitched Poly ribbon (retired): scraps of Whisper White & Pear Pizzazz CS; Subtles Candy Dots. And it wouldn't be the first of the month without the monthly specials to share! First up, July's Best of Shelli Collection! Her faves for from all the catalogs over the years - woo, what a job! $14.95 for seven stamps, PLUS your collection sticker to work to a free set! Click on the picture to see the full flyer! And this month's photopolymer set - Settin' Sail! Looks like lots of GUY possibilities, if you know what I mean, and a totally fun set! $13.95 for 21 stamps, so a bargain too. Click on the picture below for the full flyer! And finally, for the entire month of July, Stampin' Up! is offering a "Buy 3, Get One Free" deal on DSP! While the offer excludes the big color family stacks, that still leaves any pack you see on pages 151, 153 or 154 of the Idea Book & Catalog. Go check it out! No limits on the number of packs you get! I realized this morning that I still had time to get one last card in to My Pumpkin Challenge's Tags and Banners challenge! Yay, because I woke up thinking about this card! I love the look of a tiny little banner draped across a card front - I should do more of these! It's also a GREAT way to use up little scraps that I always seem to accumulate, lol. Fun, fun, fun, and I can't wait for you to see the next challenge, which should start Monday! Make sure to go check it out! May 2013 Paper Pumpkin - "Good Life"; plus, Crumb Cake CS; Alphabet Press embossing folder; Corner Rounder punch; Silver mini brads; Early Espresso Baker's Twine; Neutrals Candy Dots. I've been fretting for a week or two that my Father's Day shadow box is looking a little lonely - I needed to add something to the table decor for this theme. Enter My Pumpkin Challenge #2 - besides making a Paper Pumpkin Kit shine, try and pull in the theme of tags or banners. This immediately made me think of that cute standing tags banner we did for Valentine's Day - tags and banners in one swoop!
I made "Pater Familias" in same way we did that project (you can find those instructions here, if you missed it!), but using the same general color scheme used on the shadow box - except for using the papers from the latest Paper Pumpkin kit - Good Life! This opened up some new color options, but it still goes well with the other decor. Yay! All the little stickers were fun to play with, too - but still manly! Hubby is a big "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" fan! Make sure to visit My Pumpkin Challenge to see what other cool "off-label" goodies folks are coming up with! May 2013 Paper Pumpkin - Good Life Brag Book kit; plus, Not Quite Navy CS; White Baker's Twine; Midnight Muse & Summer Starfruit satin stitched ribbon; Natural Trim ribbon; Sycamore Street buttons (retired -SAB 2013); Timeless Type Junior Alphabet sizzlets; Mini Clothespins (retired); Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets (retired); Artisan Label & Word Window punches. So, I had to pick out which of my fave sketch challenges was the lucky winner this week for the Pumpkin Card - congrats to Freshly Made Sketches #87! The more I think about it, the more I'm jazzed about doing my Paper Pumpkin cards this way - it really shows off the versatility of these kits! And SO many pieces came in this month's kit, I'll definitely be getting more than 4 cards out of it! I was really happy with how today's card came out, as well - this month's Pumpkin is really outside of my usual color and element choices - especially "Freshly-Made" for me, so to speak, lol... A very different style than my usual bents, but one I'm sure will appeal to SOMEONE! Good times (and life!) And don't forget to check out the My Pumpkin Challenge blog - SO many creative ideas for using the kits - out of the box! I post my Pumpkins there, too! May 2013 Paper Pumpkin - "Good Life"; plus, Crumb Cake & Real Red CS; Real Red ink; Red Glimmer Specialty DSP; Full Heart punch; Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (retired) sizzlets; self-adhesive Rhinestones. |
